Marilyn Bishop
January 15, 2018
Marilyn Bishop, 95, passed away peacefully at Taylor House Hospice on Monday, January 15, 2018. Services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Norwalk Christian Church, 701 Main St. in Norwalk, IA at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior.
Marilyn was born July 16, 1922 in Des Moines, IA to Ethel (Sayers) and Glen Wood. She graduated from Norwalk High School and married her high school friend, Warren Bishop. The couple started Bishop Trucking in 1946 and retired after 40 years. Marilyn was a homemaker first but was instrumental in running the business. She was also the ultimate volunteer and anytime her daughters heard of a need at their school, they volunteered Mom. She was very active in her church, singing in the choir for 50 years, serving in numerous capacities, and was one of the eldest members along with her twin sister, Carolyn. Marilyn was a woman with a kind heart and giving spirit. She was known for her crocheted hangers that she freely shared with all who knew her, her bags of pretzels, cookies, and mints for the children.
She will be greatly missed by her devoted family, daughters, Dellaine (Tony) Spencer and Bobbie Bishop; her grandsons, Michael (Erica Shehan) Spencer, Chad (Ann Noel) Spencer, and Ben (Kelly) Spencer; great-grandchildren, Kate, Maddie, Max, Finn, Will, Sarah Beth, Violet and Beckett; and her sister, Carolyn Hukle. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren; and two siblings.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Norwalk Christian Church. Condolences may be expressed online at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Bobbie & Delaine, Do accept my sympathy at the loss of your mom, Marilyn. It is a joy to know she is in the arms of her Savior, Jesus. It was our joy to know her and your Dad at La Hacienda. Love, Joyce, Joe greeted her as she entered Heavens gates.

We are so sorry for your loss. Marilyn was a great lady! She was one ornery gal. I have always loved the stories Bobbie shares and of course sitting and talking with Marilyn was always a treat. Thoughts and prayers with you all.
