Linda Evans

Linda B. Evans, 69, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Born November 20, 1938 in Berea, Kentucky, she was the middle daughter of Lawrence and Leeta (Derthick) Baker. Linda graduated with a degree in psychology from the College of Wooster, and then pursued further education for a career in teaching. She retired from teaching second grade several years ago from Stowe Elementary in the Des Moines Public Schools.
Linda's favorite place was the family cottage at the Congregational Summer Assembly in Frankfort, Michigan, where she spent her summers, surrounded by family and lifelong friends. She was actively involved with several aspects of the Assembly and especially enjoyed spending time with her three grandsons, both at the cottage, and at home, in Iowa. They were her passion and family was of great importance to her.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Evans and Karen Evans of Des Moines, Marty Errthum and husband Troy, her grandchildren, Travis, Trevor, and Tanner Errthum all of Pleasant Hill, and sister Gail Halstead of Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jean Berger, and foster sister, Lillian Shirley.
A private memorial service will be held in Michigan this summer. Services were provided by Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines, Iowa.
