Joseph Host

Joseph Andrew Host, 79, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017, at his home in Urbandale.

Joseph was born December 2, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Wilmer and Mary (Dressic) Host. He retired from the USPS after many years of faithful service.

He is survived by his children, Don (Debbie) Host, Jo Ann (Mike) Behrens, Toni (Dan) Sumpter and Diana Buehler; grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) Salz, Don (Ashley) Host, Jr., Emily (Brian) Wrightsman, Travis (Stacie) Host, Elizabeth Behrens, Katie Sumpter and Betsy Sumpter; great-grandchildren, Caiden, Kinnick, Easton, Zeke and Piper; siblings, Chuck (Brenda) Host, John (Joyce) Host and Theresa Cantrell; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Mary Host.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2017. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9th, and will conclude with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of donor’s choice, or to Joe’s favorite charity – America Needs Fatima.
