Cindy, Karen, David and Crystal,
I am so saddened to see that your dad has passed away. Although I haven't seen him in many years, the memories of all us kids playing in the backyards, driveways, and the fields out back are still very fresh and dear to me. Joanne and Don were wonderful parents and loved you kids so very much. Crystal, you did not live at the "farmhouse" on 64th & Roseland, but your dad would slide down Water's hill with us in the winter! Joanne and Don would let us kids in the neighborhood pick all the violets we could find and take them home to our own mothers. Cindy, you might remember when your dad was up in the tree trimming some branches away, and we kids (along with your mom) were playing in the driveway when Pepper (your family dog) decided to jump up and take a bite out of my hip! I've never seen anyone in my life come down out of such a tall tree so fast. I remember so clearly when the house in Johnston was being built - how proud you all were! Our families spent so many hours together swimming in your pool in Johnston, Joanne and Kathy having a bridal shower for me, etc. Don even taught me how to drive the VW bug we had! Don was a great dad, and one to be proud of.
My very deepest sympathy to you all. It has been many, many years since I met Jane and I'm sure she would not remember me. God Bless you all. Linda
