Juliette Laurent

Juliette Adele Laurent, 93, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines.

Juliette was born August 15, 1924, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Leon and Marcella Dutemple. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy and was a member of St. Peter’s Church. She married Louis Laurent in New York on September 23, 1944. They were blessed with one son. Juliette was very independent. She loved tending her acre of land and would often spend time mowing the grass and weeding. She enjoyed polka dancing and reading romance novels.

Juliette is survived by her son, Louis L. Laurent (Anna Mari), grandson, Louis R. Laurent (Valerie), great-grandson, Louis T. Laurent, sister-in-law, Helen Dutemple, niece, Beth Welch and nephew, William Dutemple. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Louis, who passed on October 23, 1982 and her brother, Alphonse Dutemple.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2017 at St. Peter’s Church, 612 E 18th St, Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 7, also at the church, and will conclude with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
