Raymond Denning

Raymond LeRoy Denning was born July 26, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Donald and Dolly (Godwin) Denning. He was an East High graduate, Class of ’57. He proudly served in the U. S. Army from 1963 to 1965. Raymond married Carol Jean McClellan on May 10, 1963. He was a truck driver for 20 years and a retired member of the Teamsters Union. Raymond enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years. He liked spending time fishing, hunting, and watching Sprint Car races in Knoxville.
Ray passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the age of 79.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol; children, Scott (Dena), Pamela, Steve (Kathy), and Jon (Jennifer); grandchildren, Lindsey, Barrett, Elizabeth, Ricky, Ashley, Seth, Hannah, and Kristine; great-grandchildren, Aubree, Kayden, Kyzer, and one on the way; and sisters, Judy and Joyce.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dolly Denning; son, Ricky; and his brothers, Donald and Gary.
There will be a visitation from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to East High School Alumni Association, Class of ’57.

We are sorry for your loss. Ray was so much fun to be around. We enjoy our time with him at the NASCAR get together and all the camping adventures we had. Cherish the memories you had with him as well! Prayers.

So SORRY for your loss! Ray will be missed of his loss of sence of humor and caring ways. He sure loved his daughter in law and all family. Be at peace Ray all is good!
