Sandra Lee Littleton, age 67, passed away peacefully at Kavanagh House on Friday, September 1, 2017 with her loving family by her side.
She was born in New York City on May 21,1950 and raised in Wilmette, Illinois. Sandra graduated with a nursing degree from Illinois Wesleyan University. In 1976, she moved to Des Moines, Iowa. Sandra loved her dogs, enjoyed knitting and counted cross-stitch; as well as, spending time at the family cabin in Minnesota. With an interest in historic preservation, she partnered in restoring two Victorian homes in the Sherman Hill neighborhood of Des Moines from the 1970’s thru the 1990’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elloise Collins.

My heart is truly aching for EVERYONE that knew Sandy because she was a unique, funny, strong woman that held dogs, her children and her grandchildren in her comforting arms. She kept things together and gave all of her love. I am so incredibly sad and sorry that the world will continue to turn without her here. She's your Angel now.

What a beautiful service this morning...and a beautiful way to be remembered.
As I sat there I couldn't help but wonder if our youngest son would still be here today had your Mom not been visiting her parents when Chip stopped breathing. She was in our kitchen moments after my frantic call, and did CPR on our tiny 6 week old infant until EMS arrived. 42 years later he is alive, well, and the father of 4 beautiful children. I'll never forget her.
RIP Sandy. Wishing peace and comfort to Eric, Katie, Drew, Kevin, Russ, and Craig.
Love to you all, Don and Judi Boston.

We watched in awe as Sandy split and stacked a huge pile of firewood at the cabin on the 4th of July weekend. She was my Waukenabo playmate and friend for more than 60 years. We will miss her bubbly presence so very much. May you all find comfort and peace. Her spirit will be with us every time we visit the lake.

A wonderful lady who was fun and made even the tough times better, both in and out of the operating room. The patients were in great hands when she was taking care of them. Thoughts and prayers to the family & friends. Heaven will be better, now that she is there.

To Kevin and Sandy's children and grandchildren I'm so sorry for you loss. Sandy was a kind person and a patient sister-in-law, she tried to teach me how to knit at a Christmas get together and that was no easy task. I cherish the stay we had at the cabin a few years ago it's so beautiful there. Rest in peace, Sandy, and I'll see you again someday.
