Jeremy R. Sigmund

Jeremy R. Sigmund, 25, passed away on August 21, 2017. He was born April 14, 1992 in Des Moines to Marlene (Berg) and Robert Sigmund, Jr.
Jeremy attended grade school and middle school at Southeast Polk. He graduated from Dallas Center-Grimes in 2010. Jeremy loved sports especially baseball and football. He played in high school and remembered those as being some of the best times of his life. Following graduation, he attended DMACC and then went to work for TNT Landscaping. Later, he was a member of the union and employed by Forman Ford as a glazier. Most recently, he was employed by MR^2 Landscaping.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Marlene Sigmund, Jr; brother, Justin Sigmund; paternal grandparents, Robert and Verna Sigmund, Sr.; aunt, Sheryl (Terri Fritz) Sigmund and their children, Aaron and Megan; uncles, Robert (Nina Moore) Berg and Dale (Judy) Berg; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Arloe and Marcella Berg; and uncle, Edward Berg and his wife, Kathy; and aunt, Marilyn Berg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Avenue South, Altoona with visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 24, 2017 with a wake service at 7:00 pm also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be donated to organizations that fight drug addiction.

I was shocked and deeply saddened when I learned that Jeremy had passed. I am still trying to come to grips with this reality. My thoughts are with you, Bob and Marlene. I have very fond memories of the high school days when the boys played football and baseball.
