to John's family & friends (especially his brother Steve, sister-in-law Ileana and partner Joan) - May you find comfort in your best memories of John. I will remember him with love and compassion. I will smile when I recall some of his quirks. May you hold grief in one hand and gratitude in the other. I will joyfully remember the fun times we had together many years ago....when we met as co-workers at the State of Nebr Unemployment office. Take care and let's each live & celebrate every day to the fullest - time is precious - family and friends are even more precious.

John was my first supervisor at the Philadelphia Dept. of Public Health. I was happy we continued our friendship and conversations long after his retirement. He became a mentor to me and a number of peers. He made mornings pleasant and work fun. John was hysterically funny and very kind. He had a deep love of animals. He always updated me on the wildlife he found in his backyard and was happy to share his wealth with from deer, to stray cats, and even to field mice. I will always treasure the heart to heart conversations we shared and the care he gave me and so many others. I will miss you John. My condolences go out to Joan, his family, and Maurice.
