Tanzell Jamel Johnson, age 28, was taken from his family too soon on July 5, 2017. He was born on June 13, 1989 in Columbia, Missouri.

Tanzell was a sports enthusiast, his favorite team being the Dallas Cowboys. In his spare time, Tanzell enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He took pride in being a hard-worker, he extremely motivated and competitive. He could do anything he set his mind to and always excelled. He will be remembered for his beautiful smile and being a kid at heart!

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving mother, Diane Burton; siblings, Ronald (Keisha) Moore, Shawn (Irma) Moore, Twala Kee, William Gatewood, Rashawn LoveJoy, Willie Dawson, and James Gonzalez; aunts and uncles, Debbie (Carl) Palmer, Teola Wright, and Joseph Johnson; nieces and nephews, Twanda, Teona, TiAnn, Kaprisha, King, Russhaun, Jajuan, Marquis, Doug Jr., Ronald Jr., Desirae, Brooklyn, Taylor, Lejla, Calico, Brittany, Ryonni, and Ella; close relatives, Roxanne, Jerome, Justin, and Haley; and a host of cousins, and other loving extended family and friends.

Tanzell was preceded in death by his father, Willie Johnson; grandmas, Lucille Burton and Mable Johnson; aunt and uncle, Floyd “Bubba” and Virginia “Juby” Johnson, Martha Ann Dobbins, and Addie Mae Johnson; and sister, Lisa Dawson.

Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, with funeral service following at 1:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
