Harriet Ruis

Harriet M. Ruis, 77 of Clive, IA left this life on July 2, 2017, into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her family will receive visitors Thursday, July 6, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m., and hold a Celebration of Life, Friday, July 7 at 11 a.m., followed by luncheon all at First Federated Church, 4801 Franklin Ave.
Harriet was born in Kerkhoven, MN on October 17, 1939 to Floyd and Violet Gimse. She graduated from Kerkhoven H S and spent two years at Mankato State College in MN. She and Jerry were married July 22, 1961 and had two children, Shelly (Stephen) Fredrick and Craig Ruis. Harriet retired from IPERS after 26 years working for the State of Iowa.
She loved to travel. She especially enjoyed our trips to New York and Maui to visit our children. She loved Jesus Christ and served Faithfully at First Federated Church. She also was devoted to and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very kind, caring, fun loving and always ready to give advice.
She is survived by her husband Jerry; children, Shelly and Craig; grandchildren; Jennifer (Andy) Birch, Mason, Jacob, and Heather Anderson; great grandchildren, Dylan, Daniel, Emma and Lincoln, and brother Kermit. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers Arlyn and Mark, and sister LuAnn.

I had the pleasure of working at IPERS with Harriet for several years. She had a delightful sense of humor, with a special twinkle in her eyes. She loved her family and was so very proud of all of you. You are in my thoughts and prayers for this very special lady.
