Lloyd Edward Hawk, age 65, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at his home in Des Moines.

Lloyd was born June 22, 1951, in Pocahontas, Iowa, to Melvin and Edna (Wilson) Hawk. He graduated from Laurens High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1971 -75 and in the Army National Guard. Following his time in the service, he moved to the Des Moines area. He was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served on the Altar Guild. Lloyd was very caring. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He was ready and willing to help people at any time. Lloyd enjoyed home improvement projects and playing cards. He was a Cubs fan, both Iowa and Chicago. He loved his family and cherished time with his nieces and nephews and his great-nieces and nephews.

Lloyd is survived by his mother, Edna Mae; brothers, Warren of Dallas, TX, Gene of Des Moines, and David of Dallas, TX; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin and his grandparents.

Services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 600 6th Avenue, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2017. There will be a luncheon following the service. Burial will take place at Washington Cemetery in Havelock, Iowa at 3:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Iowa in honor of Lloyd's great-niece, Bailee Back.
