Service Details
Greg Smith died January 11, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be 12 PM Saturday, January 19th at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Sunset Cemetery. A visitation will be from 11 AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Greg was born September 24, 1955 in Harvey, IL to Gordon and Cleeta Smith. He worked as a sales consultant for Qwest Communications and enjoyed playing poker, listening to the blues and fishing.
He is survived by his brother, Michael (Sylvia) Smith of Tacoma, Washington; 2 nieces Melissa and Valerie Smith; and his Aunt Goldie from Alabama
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League.

To The Smith Family,
Greg was a very polite and respectful coworker and he will be
missed by many at Qwest! I wanted you to know how I felt and
the impression that he will leave with me.
I hope your family will have some peace knowing that he was our
friend and we are greatful to have known him.

I had the honor of working with Greg for several years here at Qwest. He always put a smile on the face of everyone he talked to - not once in a while but all day long. He always had something fun and wonderful to say and was a pro at making everyone's day suddenly better. He was such a blessing to us. I just want you to know that we are thinking of you & I am praying for you at this time. He will be truly missed but know he's still doing what he does best - blessing others.
