Liana Rekmanis

Liana “Liga” Rekmanis 76, of Des Moines, died Friday, January 11, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue; visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Liana was born July 16, 1931 in Riga, Latvia. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of the Latvian Society. Liana enjoyed gardening, shopping, going on vacations to California and spending time with family and friends.
Liana is survived by her son Bob “Gunar” Rekmanis of Des Moines, her daughter Vizma Roquet of Birmingham, AL, her son, Aivar (Judy Wilber) Rekmanis of Osage Beach, MO; her grandchildren, Eryn (Philip) Tatum of Birmingham, AL, Jackie Roquet of Birmingham, AL and Shawn Kradious of Des Moines; her great-grandchildren Ashley Tatum, Austin Roquet and Tyler Tatum all of Birmingham, AL; her sisters, Ludmil Dreska of Phoenix, AZ and Elvira Salnaz of Sydney, Australia. She was preceded in death by her husband John A. Rekmanis; her parents; her granddaughter Courtney Lynn Roquet, and her brother Ludis Freimanis.
