Mary A. Atwood

Mary A. Atwood, age 91, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Rehabilitation Center of Des Moines.

Mary was born in Newton, Iowa to Neal and Ida Mae Wolver on July 14, 1925. Mary was known for her homemade bread, cinnamon rolls and pies. She loved to feed and help anyone she could.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Randal Atwood; daughter, Marcella Turner; son, Hiram Beerbower; parents, Neal and Ida Mae Wolver; sisters, Opal and Donna; and brothers, Roy and Marvin.

Mary is survived by her three daughters, Mary (John) Baldwin, Gladys Weese and Mae Graves; three sons, Albert (Elaine) Beerbower, Mike (Tina) Beerbower and Bobby (Gina) Beerbower; step-son, Bobby (Denise) Atwood; sister, Marie Smiley; 23 grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a cremation. No services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
