Steven Thomas Stoner, Sr., age 51, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 7, 2017.
He was born June 18, 1965, in Des Moines, Iowa. During his working years, he was owner/operator of Steve’s Eves, specializing in construction and handy-man work. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and listening to rock music. Steve loved his family above all else. He was a devoted husband and he treasured time spent with his grandson.
Steve is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kim Stoner, sons, Steven Stoner, Jr. and Jacob Stoner (fiancée, Lindsay Morgan), grandson, Jordan Stoner, father, William Stoner of Mexico, brother, Kenny Stoner-Martin, sisters, Brenda (Charles) Navin and Deanne Kent, step-siblings, Paul Gordon, Pam (Archie) Merino, Paul Blaser and Randy Blaser, and a host of other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Blaser, step-brother, David Gordon, and his parents-in-law, Don and Gladys Smothers.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to son, Jacob Stoner to help with expenses.

Steve was a good man. He and his family were very good to my son as he grew up with their boys Steven and Jake. I am so deeply sorry for your loss, I know this has greatly affected my son Dennis Reese also.
