Hugh Russell

Hugh Don Russell (Pa) 88 of Des Moines passed away December 26 at Mercy Medical Center . He retired from the Navy after 20 years as a Chief Boatswains Mate. He served his country at Pearl Harbor on the USS California and was in the Korean Conflict. He also served as an instructor at the Great Lakes Naval Base. After the Navy he was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service.
He loved camping, fishing, his little dog Betsy and most of all his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theoni “Toni” of fifty –one years.
He is survived by two daughters, Kaye Wells (Jerry) and Susie Russell and his sister Mary Hall, all of Des Moines. Hugh also leaves behind a Grandson Matthew Donald Wells (Kim) and 4 step grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
