Got to know John over the phone talking about his high school days. He probably dated my mother, Ruth Johnson, until she met my father. Sent him some of his high school pictures I came across when going through my mother's papers. We live in Ames, IA

Neil, Nalin, Leonie and I wish we could be there to celebrate the wonderful life of Grandad. I have so many happy childhood memories of him and Monnie. No one could have sweeter or more loving people as grandparents. I will never forget getting all dressed up and going to dinner at The Embassy Club, eating steak Diane, and having coffee with chocolate chips and whipped cream for dessert. No matter what restaurant we went to, Monnie and Grandad were treated like family. They were truly loved.
I am so grateful my husband, son, and daughter had a chance to spend time with Grandad. He, along with Monnie, will always be missed.
