Steven R. Cross

Steven Robert Cross, 62, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Taylor House Hospice.

Steve was born December 5, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa to Harold and Evelyn (Bowlby) Cross. He graduated from Saydel High School in 1973 and was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. He was a member of Laborers International #177. Steve loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent hours hunting and fishing. He liked woodworking, playing cribbage, and watching Sunday football cheering on the Green Bay Packers.

Steve is survived by his children, Steven R. Cross (Jennifer), Robert Cross (Shawn), and Michelle Henry (Terry), grandchildren, Dallas Cross, Tyler Cross, Tanner Cross, Robert Cross, Johnathon Henry, Shayla Henry, Andrew Henry, and Wyatt Henry, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Butler and Harold Cross, brother, Jack Cross, and sister, Barb Hill.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2017, also at Hamilton’s, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
