She loved animals, especially large dogs, and her dogs, Chance and Max held a special place in her heart. She was very creative and had a strong artistic side. Abbey was up on the latest technology, and was interested in photography, drawing, and painting. She loved life and dreamed of one day owning her dream car, a Ford F150.
Abbey is survived by her mother, Marla Cox and sister, Mackenzie Cox of Altoona; her father, Greg Cox (and his wife, Lisa) and step-siblings, Larkin and Jaylee Christy of Kellogg; her grandfather, Willis Cox of Carlisle; her beloved dogs, Chance and Max; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Helen and Robert Parker, and Marian Cox; great-grandmother, Mildred Madden; and her uncle, Phil Davis.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Community of Christ Church, 1645 Pennsylvania Ave, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017, also at the church, with Minister Vincent Lewis presiding. Burial will follow at Altoona Cemetery.

I had the privilege of being Abbey's nurse at Spring Creek! What a vibrant, intelligent and kind hearted young lady I remember her as. She was wise beyond her years and she had a smile and laugh that was contagious! Prayers for the entire family and all of Abbey's friends. She was an inspiration to all who met her.

Thoughts and prayers are with your family. Abbey was such a bright and thoughtful young lady. It was a pleasure to have her in photo class and it was always obvious that she loved art and photo - we'll miss seeing her cheery smile at school

Sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the Bible's promise at Revelation 21:4 "And he will wipe out every tear from their eye and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
