Richard Dean Davis, 85, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2017 at his home. Richard was born on April 7, 1931 in Promise City, Iowa to Florence (Poli) and Hurley Davis.
Richard served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a self-employed carpenter. He married Jo Ann Stansberry on March 17, 1955 and together they enjoyed 48 years before her passing in 2003. Richard enjoyed his Friday night bowling league, NASCAR (especially Dale Earnhardt) and was a big Cubs fan – he was especially glad he got to see them win the World Series.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. John’s Church Cemetery in Cummings, Iowa.
Richard is survived by his children, John (Lujean) Stansberry, Kathy (Ed) Myers and Mike (Rosemary) Davis; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Dallas, Betty and Renie; and many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Jo Ann and brothers, Bobby and Donnie.
