Pola Cantu

Pola Cantu, 95, died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Union Park Health Services. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Hamilton’s, 605 Lyon St. in Des Moines, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Pola was born April 10, 1912 in Thurber, Texas. She was married to Sixto Valdez, from this union, daughters Marcella, Mary and Patricia were born. From her marriage to Jesse Mora, they had daughters Anna, Rose, Theresa and Margaret. Pola’s final marriage was to Daniel Cantu. Pola loved to work in her yard and with her flowers and she was very particular about how it looked. She also enjoyed listening to music, her favorite was Johnny Cash and watching musicals.
Pola is survived by: her daughters, Patricia Garcia, Anna (Darrell) Murphy, Rose (George) Golob, Theresa (Robert) Garrison, and Margaret (Joe) Howe; her 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her three husbands; her parents; her brothers and sisters; daughters, Marcella Casillas and Mary Zepeda; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Pola.
