Michael C. (Ringgenberg) Swinehart

Michael C. Swinehart, 69, passed away after a long battle with cancer on January 28th, 2017. He was born in Des Moines on March 7th, 1947, to John Thomas and Bernadine (Pete) Swinehart.
Mike grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Saydel High School in 1965. Mike loved hunting, fishing, especially night fishing and ice fishing, going to the Boone Speedway and Iowa State Fairgrounds to watch the races, and coaching softball. His favorite seasons were fall and spring; tending to his yard and paying special attention to ‘his butterfly bushes’ and hummingbird feeders.
He was a family man, his kids were his life! He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mike retired in 2015 from Correll Contractor, Inc., after 13 years of service.
Mike is survived by his wife Kathy of 44 years; children/grandchildren, Tammy Canney/ Alyssa; Angela (Walter) Pirnot/ Gillian and Gavin; Michelle (Joe) Critchlow/ Emily, Jessica and Daniel; Mike/ Amber and Cass (Brad) Edwards/ Lexie, Saydee and Dillan; and his siblings, Bill (Kandie) Swinehart, Rick Swinehart, Jack (Marilyn) Ringgenberg, Patti Tyler and Beth Ringgenberg. He was preceded in death by his father, John Swinehart; mother, Bernadine (Pete) Ringgenberg; step-father, Lester (Shorty) Ringgenberg; brothers, Rex Ringgenberg and John Swinehart; as well as his sister, Sheila Ringgenberg.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

So sorry for the family's loss ! Mike and I worked at M. Harper together we had a lot of fun on the job sites Mike was a lot of fun to work with there wasn't a boring day went by when we worked together we did some crazy things and had a lot of fun at work ! I will miss him a lot and never will for get him ! A good guy and fiend ! God Bless !

Mike, my rotten , onry, nephew...I grew up with you kids. Your in a special place now. I feel bad that I didn't get to know Mike better. I used to love going fishing with his dad, and spent some quality time with him after I married my first wife .I'll miss seeing him at the family reunions. My prayers are with his survivors. Love-Uncle Pat and Claire

So sorry to hear of Mike's death. Spent a lot of time with him as we were growing up and going to Uncle Jack an Aunt Pete's home in Des Moines. Sending prayers and thoughts to the family and his friends. May he Rest In Peace.
