Duane F. Laffey, 83, of Altoona, Iowa passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017. Duane was born on February 7, 1933 to Alvin and Edna (Gonner) Laffey in Springbrook, Iowa. He was a member of the US Army, serving in the Korean War (1953-1955).

Duane and Shirley resided on a farm near Runnells from 1955 to 2010, when they moved to Altoona.

Duane loved fishing in Minnesota, spending time with family and watching his grandchildren play sports. He loved socializing and knew no stranger. He enjoyed having coffee with friends at Hy-Vee, the Altoona Campus and McDonald’s.

Farming was the most fulfilling job in his life. His favorite thing to do was to drive around and look at his farm land. John Deere tractors filled his farm and he spent his free time collecting many types of farm toys. He went to many auctions and enjoyed raising cattle.
