John Bailliere Joseph
December 13, 2016
John Bailliere Joseph, age 55, of Waukee, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 13, 2016. There will be a visitation from 5-8 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2016 with a time for sharing at 7 pm at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, Iowa.
John was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Burton Jr. and Mary Lee Joseph on January 21, 1961. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1978, from there attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon and graduated from Drake University in 1985. In 1983, John joined the family business, Josephs Jewelers. He was an active member of the American Gem Society where he earned his degree of Registered Jeweler. His passion for colored stones lead him to many great travels and Jewelry Shows around the world. He was a business leader who cared about the well-being of his employees and truly viewed them as extended family.
On October 3, 1998, John was united in marriage to Debra Stellinga at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a loving husband, caring father and grandfather, business partner, uncle, mentor and a friend to many.
John’s love of music and playing guitar was a large part of his life until the very end.
He will be greatly missed especially his unique sense of humor. It always made you think and you couldn't help but laugh. His passing leaves a vacant spot in many hearts.
Continuing to cherish his memory are his wife, Debra; children, Tricia (Aaron) Peden of Bothell, Washington, Jennifer Joseph of West Des Moines, James and Ryan Joseph of Waukee; grandson, Ulysses Peden; siblings, Carol (Tom Marshall) Joseph and Toby (Becky) Joseph of West Des Moines; nieces, Sarah Marshall and Trisha (Colby Gardner) Joseph of West Des Moines; nephews, BJ (Sable) and Jake (Erin) Joseph of West Des Moines; and his great-nephews and nieces. John was preceded in death by his parents; and uncle, Bill Joseph.

My deepest sympathy to all the family & friends. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Thank you John for being the Best Man in our wedding, letting us have both of your girls in our wedding & most of all, allowing us to give your name to our son as his middle name. All the memories were great; loved the pool parties, coming over for dinner, Christmas gatherings, watching your girls grow up, being at your wedding with Deb, just ALL the time we spent together in the past. I love you John & your family. Rest in peace my friend. Tamara
