Donald Stohlgren

Donald Wesley Stohlgren, 87, passed away peacefully Monday, November 26, 2007. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Christ Lutheran Church. Cremation will follow the funeral and a private family burial will be at a later date.
Don was born December 5, 1919 in Des Moines, the son of Martin and Blanche (Peterson) Stohlgren. He lived all of his life in Des Moines and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Don retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber in the early 1980’s after 28 years of service. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, proudly serving his country from 1941-1945.
Don is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Gertrude; his son, Michael (Karen) Stohlgren of Missouri and their sons, Matthew, Kevin and Nicholas Stohlgren; his daughter, Susan Stohlgren of Arizona; brother, Walter Stohlgren of Johnston; sisters, Gladys Julstrom of Urbandale and Mildred Dugas of Johnston; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Stohlgren and his parents.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church, 6411 S.E. 5th in Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in loving memory of Don.
