James Francis Weddell

James Francis Weddell, 75, passed away November 1, 2016. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruby; his brother, Robert Weddell; and his parents, Grace and Mike Weddell.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. and the service on Saturday, November 5 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Des Moines.

James was born July 23, 1941 in Des Moines, IA to Grace (Turner) and Mike Weddell. He served in the U.S. Army and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed spending time with family and was brutally competitive in any and all games, which included but was not limited to Spades, croquet, and football.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Carol Weddell; his daughters, Michele (Don) Chase and Lisa (Scott) Birkel; his brothers, Michael (Patsy), Ron, Mark (Dena) and Raymond (Michele) Weddell; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
