Ardis Richard Vandermark

Ardis “Art” Vandermark, 81, passed away on Friday, August 12th, 2016, at Taylor House in Des Moines after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Centerville, Iowa, and served in the United States Air Force for three years.

Art retired from Casey’s in 1994, and from Walmart in 2016. He loved bowling and going on bus trips, and was loved by many, including his wife of nineteen years and eleven months, Tina.

Art is survived by his wife, Tina; his children, William McClain, Dawn (Jason) Henry, Donna Vance, Deloras (Kenneth) Northway, Rose Ann (Steve) Genovese, and Barbara (Steve) Bean; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Margaret Williamson; his brothers, Gilbert (Sue) Vandemark, and David (Karen) Vandemark; and a host of other loving family and friends. Art was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline; his parents; his children, Brenda Golay, Charles Whitman, Richard Wilson, and James McClain; and his brothers, Leon Vandemark, James Davidson and Howard Davidson.

A Celebration of Life, dinner included, will be held at Norwoodville Senior Center, located at 3077 NE 46th Ave., Des Moines, IA 50317 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 19, 2016.
