Marilyn Joyce Freel, 84, passed away on July 5, 2016, at Courtyard Estates in Bondurant. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on January 21st, 1932, to Christina and Frank Canfield.

Marilyn worked for a variety of companies, including Warren Bros. Chevrolet, Stuart Oil, and Townsend Industries. She was the owner of Town and Country Bride in Altoona. However, Marilyn’s true passion was volunteering. She was a 4-H leader, a former member of the Polk County Fair Board, a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, sang in her church’s choir, and served as her church’s treasurer for over twenty years.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Jeff (Rosemary) Freel, Joy (David) Warner, Jennifer (Gary) Fischer, and Jill (Steve) Craven; her sister, Verna Bowie; her grandchildren, Allison and Jonathan Freel, Whitney and Grant Warner, Evan, Aleka, Owen, and Olivia Fischer, Gunnar and Heath Methlie, and Aidan and Macy Craven; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Earl.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 9th, 2016 at Centennial United Methodist Church at Ivy, located at 9150 NE University Ave, Altoona, Iowa 50009, with burial to follow at Canfield Cemetery in Ivy. The family will receive visitors on Friday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the church.
