Phyllis Ludgate

Phyllis Jane Ryan-Ludgate, age 79, was welcomed into the arms of her loving God on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, IA. She left this world victoriously with her faith in God and her love for God and her family and friends.

Phyllis was born April 23, 1937. She married the love of her life, James Chester Ludgate. They were married for 54 years when he passed away and their marriage was blessed with four wonderful children: Dirk (Trina), Debra, Douglas and Diana (Ralph); foster daughter, Linda Rhiner; three grandchildren: Jami (Jeremiah) Martin, Jessica Ludgate (Tim Jones) and Sandra Nelson; and great-grandson, Greysen Jones. Phyllis is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jack (Pat) Ludgate.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded into eternal life by her parents: mother, Gladine Ryan Jacobsen, father, Ralph Ryan and step-father, Hans Jacobsen; sister, Arlene Ryan; brother, Bobby Ryan; son, Douglas John Ludgate; and daughter, Debra Arlene Dunlap.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
