JoAnn Smyth

JoAnn Smyth, 79, passed peacefully Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines surrounded by her family. She was born December 4, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa. JoAnn co-owned with her daughter Wonder Years Academy and was head cook for 20 years. She enjoyed her winnings from Prairie Meadows and she especially cherished time spent with her family.
She is survived by her children, Steven, Terry, Sherry, Lawrence, Alfie, Laura, Jennifer, Tommy, Nena, and Mike; 22 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ramona (Chuck) Woods.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Maxine Garrington; husband, Frank; and brother, Sammy.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 17th also, at the funeral home.

RIP Aunt Jody! U always was my favorite Aunt. Wish these last year's would of been different for us all. But u still will b greatly missed!
