Michael "Mike" Ogden
May 05, 2016
Michael Edward Ogden, 54, of Des Moines passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 following a tragic, work-related accident. Mike was born on September 4, 1961 in Des Moines to Becky (Van Law) and Robert Ogden.
Mike graduated from Lincoln High School in 1979. He was a dedicated and proud member of the Swing Choir, the Tennis Team and the Bowling Team during his time at Lincoln. After high school, he loyally served his country in the U.S. Army as an M.P. and served much of his time in Germany. Mike enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, riding his beloved Harley, “Babs”, and rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He looked forward to Tuesday nights and bowling with his buddies. Most of all Mike treasured and loved time with his girls, grandkids and his extended family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Amber (Aaron) Anderson, Brandy (Aaron Hahn) Ogden and Jordan Ogden; grandchildren (with their Papa’s nicknames for them), Camarin “Macki”, Tobias “Scooter” and Iain “Awesome”; mother, Rebecca (Jerry) Hein; siblings, Lisa Ogden, Wendy Berg, Mark (Angie) Ogden, Kristen (Lance) Rhodes and Tanya Ogden; step-mother, Donna Ogden; mother of his girls, April Ogden; and many nieces, nephews, other loving family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; grandparents, Ward F. & Thelma (Moran) Ogden, Donald Van Law and Ethel (Clemons) Vondran; great-grandmothers, Birdie Higgins and Mary Ellen Damerval; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the funeral home. He will be escorted by the The Patriot Guard Riders of Iowa to Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA. to arrive at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, where he will be laid to rest .

Mike,
Whenever someone meet you, the first thing they could see was the strength of your character. I always believed your character was crafted to be the armor of your greatest treasure, your girls. Though you left this world far to early, your armor remains to guide and protect them. I don't know if you ever realized it, but you spread your armor over far more lives than you can ever imagine. Though we parted ways, your guidance and friendship will be missed.
You will be missed

My Thoughts and Prayers go out to all of Mike's Family and Friends!!! He was the nicest guys I'd meant. I'd see him occasionally when we'd go listen to a band play. My Dad Ron Sanford is a longtime Friend of Dick, Mikes Uncle and also knew his Dad Bob. As a kid I remember being around Heidi and her Brother Rocky. Mike always had a smile on his face. I will miss him terribly. I Pray for Comfort and Peace for his Family during this traggic time in their lives. God Bless You All. Love, Julie

Mike was a friend of mine when my family moved from Indiana to Des Moines we bought the Ogden home on 3rd street he always gave me a hard time for crashing his 11th birthday party. I have many fond memories with Mike. I'm so glad for FB and being able to be friends again with him & Mark and Becky. I wish I could be there to pay my respects in person. My love and prayers to the whole family.
