Margaret Ann Cumings

Margaret Ann Cumings passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Margaret was born January 7th, 1932 to George and Mararite Schmidt. She was an East High Alumnus, graduating in 1949. Margaret worked for Bruce Motor Freight for 14 years. She was an owner and manager of Don’s Pickup& Delivery, Inc. for 25 years before retiring in 1989. She was a member of Community Church of Christ.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Donald Cumings, Jr. (Beth) of Ankeny and William Cumings (Angie) of Norwalk; sister, Birdie Mae Smith; brother, Robert Schmidt; grandsons, Tyler Cumings (Sam) and Kyle Cumings (Allie); and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Jacee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Schmidt; and sister-in-law, Juanita Schmidt.

A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 11 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, also at Hamilton’s, with interment to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
