Harriett “Ann” Cox, 84, died November 25 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Ann was born in Goldfield on March 27, 1922 to Freeman and Sena (Thompson) Pinder. She graduated from Goldfield High School in 1939 and the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dean, and their five children: Douglas Cox of Dundas, MN, Edward (Susan) Cox, Rebecca Cox, and John Cox of Des Moines, Sheila (Tom) Staubus of Duluth, MN: grandchildren, Nathan Cox and Amanda Cox of Des Moines, Ira Carlson of Northfield, MN, Kayli Staubus and Marie Staubus of Duluth, MN: and great grandchildren, Payton Carlson and Sydney Carlson of Northfield, MN
Until her recent illnesses Ann had been an active member of Staves Memorial United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. For several years she bought and sold fine china and crystal.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Floyd Pinder, and her sister, Berniece Leonard.
At her request her body has been donated to Des Moines University for medical research or teaching.
A memorial service will be held at Staves United Methodist Church, E. 28th and Madison in Des Moines on Saturday 12/02/2006 at 10:30 am, with Rev. R.D. Streeter and Rev. Paul Pfaltzgraff officiating. Visitation with the family and a luncheon open to all will immediately follow the service.
