Service Details

Edward Thomas Churchill, 72, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Des Moines, passed away at home on Sunday, March 20, 2016. Funeral Mass: 2 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Des Moines. Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Mitchellville Cemetery.

Edward was born March 26, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, to Edward Seibel and Kathleen Dolphin. He was later adopted by his father, Teddy Churchill. Edward was a truck driver, and a long-time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He married Carol Macy and they had five children. Years later, he married Lois Harlan and they moved to Cedar Rapids. They enjoyed their monthly trip to the casino, as well as dancing. He attended St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He was a friend of Bill W. for over 26 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Harlan, of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Susan Churchill (Jayne Higginbottom), of Ankeny, and Amy Churchill, of Des Moines; step-son, Randy Harlan of Traverse City, Michigan; step-daughters, Peggy (Steve) Hart of Red Wing, Minnesota, and Cathy (George) Arduser of Monticello, Iowa; brothers, Teddy of Johnston, Iowa, Bruce of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mark Churchill of Platte City, Missouri; seven step-grandchildren; and 24 step-great-grandchildren.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; infant children, Robert, Diane, and Jennifer; granddaughter, Alea Churchill; and brother, John Churchill.
