William (Bill) G. Dowell, 74, was called home to be with his Lord & Savior on Friday, March 18th, 2016. Mr. Dowell was born in Des Moines on December 17th, 1941 to Charles & Mary Dowell.

He retired from TransIowa after 30 years of service. He enjoyed participating in his church (Lee Town Assembly) where he served as a deacon, filled in as pastor and drove the church bus. He loved his family, his cat, playing the steel guitar, spreading the gospel, and playing pool.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vivian Dowell, Sister Linda McQuerrey, daughters; Lucinda Miller, Kendra Dowell & a set of stillborn twins.

He is survived by his sons; Aaron (Heather) Dowell, Shawn (Barb) Dowell, his daughters; Michele (Brian) Dowell & Kelci Dowell. His caregiver & daughter in-law, Penny Nelson. Also several grandchildren, great-grandchildren & many friends.

Visitation will be at Hamilton's Funeral Home on 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 10-11am. Per his request, Mr. Dowell will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 24th where he will be laid to rest next to his wife at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
