L. Darlene Robinson
March 17, 2016
L. Darlene Robinson, 86, passed away on March 17, 2016, in Des Moines, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born March 7, 1930, to Alfred A. and Alva C. Peterson.
Darlene graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1948 and continued to help with reunions through the Alumni Associations. On March 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to George W. Robinson in Des Moines. While her children were young, she devoted herself to her family and home as her three boys were her pride and joy.
Later in life, she pursued her passion for art and loved spending time with her art group at the Urbandale Senior Center. She created more than 100 paintings in her studios and donated a piece of art to the Masonic Grand Lodge of Iowa annually. Darlene also enjoyed being outdoors and the countryside, but above all else, she cherished her family and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband, George; sons, Jeffrey (Sandy) Robinson, Barry (Barb) Robinson, and David Robinson; grandchildren, Natalie (Ken) Ketelsen, Jaime (Mike) Leo, Holly Robinson (Chuck Stanley), Joy Robinson (James Comerford), and Heather Robinson (Josh Johnson); great-grandchildren, Madelyn Leo, Mya Johnson, and Samuel Leo; as well as her brother, James Peterson (Lola VanWyk).
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or Scottish Rite Care in loving memory of Darlene.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, Jeff.
My Dad passed away a little over a year ago and even though he lived a long life(96), it was still hard knowing that he wouldn't be around any more. You have my sympathy and I'll see this summer at a few tournaments. Take care.
