Mary Rose Butler

Mary Rose Butler passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Bright Kavanagh Hospice in Des Moines. She was born on February 1, 1948 in Des Moines, IA to Melvin LeRoy Butler, Sr. and Rose Ann (Giudicissi) Butler.
Mary Rose is survived by her sisters, Melinda (Norm) Stevens, Deborah A. (G. Michael) Wainwright; brother, Mel (Chris) Butler; nieces, Lara Rose, Heather, Katie, Sara, and Aleisha; nephews, Chad, Marcus, and Zachary; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and maternal grandparents, Antonio and Maria Giudicissi.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

I have so many great memories of working with Mary Rose at the Des Moines Register. We got to know each others' families as we did many fun things together outside of work. Loved her personalized license plate "MaryRo". I considered her a good friend that will be missed.
