Service Details

Paul Eugene Crispen, 92, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016. He was born May 25, 1923 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to John and Beulah Crispen. Paul was a proud Army Veteran of World War II. He retired from Chenowith & Kern Elevator where he installed elevators and escalators.

Paul had a great sense of humor and was a complete jokester. He was a selfless person, always there for those in need, yet never asked for help for himself. He was a Mr. Fix-It, enjoying working in the garage on cars, getting dirty. In his younger days, he liked spending time camping, hunting, and fishing. In recent years, Paul was always there for his children and grandchildren. Paul and his wife, Lula’s favorite form of entertainment was going out to eat. Paul spoiled his wife and enjoyed doing things for her around the house.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Lula Jane Crispen; daughter, Paula Sweet (Carrie Ory); daughter, Judy (Dennis) Morgan; step-son, Russ (Kris) Morgan; ten grandchildren, including grandson, Ryan who was his companion, caretaker, and best friend; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Fletcher and his parents, John and Beulah.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5th at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6th, also at Hamilton’s, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
