Mr. Nang Van Nguyen, 73, Des Moines, Iowa died at residence following a long illness.
He was born February 16, 1942 in Vinh Long Province, South Vietnam. He followed Buddhism practice since he was young and he officially became a monk at the age of 16. He later joined the South Vietnam Arm Forces and served as Buddhist Chaplain, his last ranking in the army was Captain.

After April 30, 1975, he was imprisoned and sent to North Vietnam until 1982. After release, he continued to practice Buddhism as unofficial monk who conducts all Buddhist ceremonies and weddings. He then married to Mrs. Be Thi Nguyen and had a son, Tri Minh Nguyen, in 1985. In 1994, he got accepted to settle in the United States through the Humanity Organization for South Vietnamese officers who were imprisoned after the war. He came to Des Moines, Iowa in October 30, 1994 with his wife and son. On March 17, 1999, he suffered a stroke and has been bed-ridden since then. He died at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015.

Mr. Nang Nguyen is survived by his wife, Be Thi Nguyen, son, Tri Minh Nguyen and two grand-daughters, Adrienne (4 years old) and Audrey (2 years old) in Des Moines, Iowa.
