Donald Owens, 77, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Donald was born August 17, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Paul and Cecil (Wilson) Owens. He had been a resident of the Des Moines area for all of his life prior to moving to Pleasant Care Center in Pleasantville, Iowa. He served in the US Army and worked for Economy Forms as a supervisor prior to retirement. Donald was a fixture in downtown Des Moines. He lived there for almost 25 years and loved touring the skywalks and people watching. He was very friendly and enjoyed striking up conversations with people.

Donald is survived by his wife, Becky Dubberke; daughter, Donna Jones (Bill); son, Gary Owens (Cheri); brother, Ron Owens (Pat); grandchildren, Tiffany Campbell, Tabetha Delosreyes (Juan), Tonja Grijalva, David Kintz (Merrelita), Gary Lee Owens (Tara), Lia Wendt (Brandon), Robbie Owens (Erin), Tanner Owens, and Cameron Owens; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Cecil Owens and his brother, Vic Owens.

There will be a prayer service at 10:00 a.m., followed by a visitation until 12:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2015, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
