Frances was born in Des Moines on November 1, 1922 and passed on July 8, 2015. She was raised by her Grandmother, Sadie McIntyre and was a 1942 East High graduate. During the war she worked as a welder for Solar Aircraft. Later she worked for Younkers and Fawn Engineering. On September 14, 1946 she married Lewis Jack West and together they raised three sons.
Frances loved dogs, and no dog ever wanted to return home after staying with her. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to squadron reunions with Jack.
Frances is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Jack, sons Michael (Teri) of Arvada CO, Kevin (Anne) of Windsor Heights and Alan of Des Moines, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Mary Picray and four-legged son Franco. She was preceded in death by brothers Mewaka Flowers and Francis Picray.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St, Des Moines. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 13 also at Hamilton's.

To Mike, Kevin, and the rest of the family:
I first met your mother (my great-aunt) this past January at my grandfather's funeral, I thought she was a delightful woman, and I wished that I had met her years before. She was so full of life and joy that it spilled out of her and infected others. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy for your loss at this time. I will be praying for you all.

Dear Kevin and Michael,
I was so sorry to see the news of the death of your mother in the newspaper today. I will never forget how kind, courteous and helpful she was when I contacted her with regard to obtaining information on the McIntyre family. I was a perfect stranger, but she talked to me on the telephone as if I had known her forever. You have my deepest sympathy at this difficult time.

Yvonne and I had the privilege of knowing Frances through our daughters marriage to her grandson, Andrew. We loved her strength and courage. She will be sadly missed. "Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord"
