Carol Ann Hurt, 65, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015. She was born June 19, 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Douglas; children, Jennifer (Dale) Schwarz, Erica (Chad) Evink, Aaron (Melanie) Hurt, Sarah (Joshua) Kent, and Elizabeth (Jason) Hiles; and her grandchildren, Michael and Alyssa Skaritka, Dale Jr., Andrew, Jack, Katie, and EmmaLea Schwarz, Kynsey, Adalyn, and Kylie Hiles, Shane and Ava Grace Evink, and Preston Hurt. She is also survived by her siblings, Gregory Zindel, Glynn Byers, Hal Byers, Van Byers, Paula Maxwell, Eileen Devol, Myra Heer, and Nancy Lahman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Ruth Zindel and Eileen and Elmer Byers and her siblings, Helen, Larry, and Jack Byers.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 2315 59th Street, Des Moines.

it was our pleasure and privilege to call Carol a friend for nearly 40 years. Always kindhearted and giving, Carol truely loved mothering and took in all those who needed her. We will miss you sweet lady. Until we meet again...

Dear Dougie and family, Rachelle and I want to express our deepest condolences to you and your family. It seems like just yesterday we were all at Kuiper Funeral Home. I remember the fun times we had, teasing Carol (who by the way enjoyed going for drives when it snowed at night). We know she in heaven and will be watching over all of us. I am so sorry for your loss, and the sorrow you feel...Mrs. Hurt was such a sweet, generous person that loved to be a blessing! We will miss her so much. We send our condolences, love, and prayers to you all in the Hurt family. She was so very blessed to have such a loving family! So very thankful for Jesus and his promises, that she is experiencing the glorious of Heaven and that we will see her again one day!

We were so very sorry to hear of Carol's passing. She was truly a lovely lady. Thank God for her sweet Christian testimony! We know you will all miss her dearly, but can thank Him for the blessed hope of seeing her again in Heaven!
