Bob was born on July 20, 1932 in Des Moines, IA to Kenneth and Pauline (Brooks) Wright. He grew up in Des Moines and graduated from North High School in 1951. Bob’s passions were family and girls softball. As a men’s softball player himself, and a member of the Des Moines Softball Hall of Fame, he continued that passion by teaching many young ball players the art of fast pitch softball. He gave clinics for 20 years and remained a pitching coach for nearly 50 years.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Donna; his six children; Michelle Wright of London, England, Kim (Buck) Jones of Urbandale, IA, Melanie (Mark) Ohlson of Urbandale, IA, Robin Wright of West Des Moines, IA, Mindi (Joel) Hanson of West Des Moines, IA, and Bobby, Jr. (Gina) Wright of Urbandale, IA; and 10 grandchildren, Satchel and Riley Jones, Dalton and Emilee Stewart, Brady, Spencer, Anna-Mae, Shaefer and Kendyl Hanson, and Shae Richmond. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Max.

Bob was a classmate of mine at North and Washington Irving Jr. High. I still have a picture of our 9th year graduation at Irving.
He was a fine man. I enjoyed his friendship.
Very sorry for your loss.
We visited for a few minutes at the 60th North High Class reunion.
With sincere sympathy,

My deepest sympathies! The world has lost a giant of a man. Gary Paige field was never really same without Coach Wright sitting down by the dugout right on the chain link!
