Charles Cozad

Charles D. Cozad, 76, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Charles was born January 5, 1939 in Albia, Iowa. He retired from Briggs Corporation in 2007 after 42 years of service. Charles was also an ordained minister. He was very handy and could fix anything. He enjoyed creating table games.

Charles is survived by his children, Craig Cozad, Derek (Sherry) Cozad, Brian Cozad, Diane (Brian) Hokanson, Charles (Tom) Cozad and Linda (Daniel) Lawton; 18 grandchildren, Aaron, Crissy, Danielle, Tim, Angela, Emily, David, Amanda, Jeremy Ashley, Ben, Sarah, Joshua, Andrew, Amy, Allison, Deven and Matt; six great-grandchildren, Landen, Miles, Destiny, Karina, Leah, Dakota and three on the way; sister, Shirley (Larry) Kirschbaum; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Sheryl Sue Cozad and his brother, Richard “Dick” Cozad.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Norwalk Cemetery in Norwalk.
