Christine Marie Bedford, beloved mother and grandmother, cherished wife and daughter, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 with her family by her side at Mercy Hospice at the age of 62.

Christine “Christy” was born October 5, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ron and Gloria (Heathcote) Reynolds. She discovered her life’s calling early on and began her career in caregiving as a candy striper at age 16. She was a selfless and devoted person and always enjoyed giving of herself to others. She worked in nursing homes, caring for other people her entire life. She held various positions including activities director and C.N.A. before earning her nursing home administrator’s license in 1993. She worked most recently as the administrator for City View Residential. She enjoyed her job and lived to help other people. She was loved by all the residents at City View and everyone who had the privilege to know her.

Christine enjoyed crafts, especially making things for other people. She loved spending time with her family and friends, listening to country music, and going dancing. She liked cooking and will be remembered for her amazing pumpkin bread. She cherished being in her home, surrounded by the love of family.

Christine is survived by her husband of 23 years, Mike Clayton; children, David Bedford and Tracy (Michael) Vannoni; grandchildren, David III and Zachary; great-grandson, Nathan; parents, Ron and Gloria Reynolds; brother-in-law, Jerry (Mitzy) Clayton; nieces, Lilian and Lola Clayton; and nephews, Jason and Ronny Eaton.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Reynolds; sister, Theresa Eaton; granddaughter, Heather Bedford; husband, David Bedford Sr.; and many furry four-legged children, including Trixie and Crickett.

Services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a time of sharing starting at 7:00 p.m.
