Marvin Duane Blevins

Marvin Duane Blevins, 71, passed away January 14, 2015 at Kavanagh House. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, with visitation on Sunday, January 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the funeral service on Monday, January 19 at 1:00 p.m.

Marvin was born in Corydon, Iowa on February 22, 1943 to Flossie (Kelly) and Clyde Blevins. He graduated from Wayne Community High School and AIB. He worked as an insurance agent and in the retail toy business. Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, hot air ballooning and was an avid sports and NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce; son, Michael (Kathy); daughter, Shelly (Mike) Mitchell; grandchildren, Katie and Jacob Mitchell; his siblings, Verlyn (Alice), Bernice Egbert, and Norma Lee Campbell and numerous other family members. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doris and Mildred and brother, Merlyn.
