Cecil Law Calvert

Cecil L. Calvert, 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born on May 12, 1931 in Tracy, Iowa to John and Essa (Law) Calvert.

Cecil served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was an all around handyman.

He is survived by his children, John, Renee and Cecil and their families; step-children, JoDee (Russ) Cross and Victor Nelson, Jr. and their families; several grandchildren including Becky (Zac) Oler and KayDee Cross; great-grandson, John Oler; sisters, Nadine Hogate, Margaret Pierce and Dorothy Shoup; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, DeAnna; and brothers, Harry, George and Jim.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff of the VA Behavioral Recovery Unit for their loving care of Cecil.

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Walnut Creek Church SOUTH, 1101 E. Army Post Road, Des Moines with visitation 1 hour prior to services.
