Richard Powell

Richard “Dick” Powell, 82, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Fleur Heights Care Center.

Dick was born April 25, 1932 in Des Moines to Arthur and Madeline (Clark) Powell. He retired from Delavan Manufacturing Co. in 1995, where he had worked as a quality control engineer. Dick was a member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bea Powell; children, Mary (Doran) Schrader, Richard (Sheila) Powell and Randy (Janeice) Powell; grandchildren, Kenneth (Eryn) Wolf, Stephanie (Dustin) Nordell, Joseph Powell and Joshua Powell; nine and a half great-grandchildren; cousin, Laura Sadler; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marjorie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 5930 Indianola Avenue followed by burial at Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church organ fund.
