Marian Wynn, 73, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014. She was born August 7, 1941 to Ivan and Opal Conn in Thayer, Iowa. She was a member of Neighborhood Associations, PTA and volunteer at Capitol View Elementary School. She loved gardening and helped transplant flowers at the Botanical Center.
She is survived by her daughters, Chris (Jeff) Steele and Rhonda Suzanne (Taed) Wynnell; son, Paul Conn; brothers, Dale and Maurice Conn; granddaughter, Tiphany (David) Rumage; Grandsons, Ryan, Keb, Eric, Joe and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Austin and Audrey Rumage, Samantha, Chase and Willie VanBlaricum; as well as her furry children.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Wynn; son, Michael Wynn; grandson, T.J. VanBlaricum; sisters, Doris, Helen and Irene; brothers, Robert and Richard; and her parents.
Memorial Visitation will be held, 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Private burial will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Marian.

Always enjoyed visiting with your mom/grandma when we would see her at Tiphany and Daves house or family events or birthdays. She seemed the epitome of the active grandma and loved hearing about all the great meals you guys would get together for-sounded like she laid the foundation for the girls expertise in the kitchen for sure. Our prayers are with you all during this time and beyond. Love you all.

I didn't get to spend much time with your mom but I feel like I knew her though our conversations. Even though we know that God will take our parents One day, we are never ready to let them go. Know that she is in a better place and your memories will always be with you. My thought and prayers are with you and your family

I loved working with Marian, better known to me and lots of staff at Capitol View as "Grandma Wynn".
She truly did have a heart of gold. She gave so much of her time to the children here at Capitol View. What ever any of the staff needed, she would help get. She did all she could for our PTA. I told her she was like the Lone Ranger working on any and everything she could for our kids and staff. The Lone Ranger had Tontoe. I will miss her talks that we had at our Book Fairs...there were years of them. She was family to us here at Capitol View and outside of school. I loved her family and her grandkids! What a great person she was. She will be missed by family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and lots and lots of friends.!

1941 - 2014 What mattered most is the dash between those years. The dash represents all the time she spent alive on earth and only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

In all of our years together, Marian was always a strong and vibrant person. She will be greatly missed. The void that she leaves will be very hard to fill.

Marian was my sister-in-law, and my friend. I met her when I was a little girl, as she and my brother were 16 years older than me. She was so kind and generous! I loved her cooking, and enjoyed every meal that we had at their home. I admired her on so many levels. She was passionate about her family. She did the very best with what she had. She was an excellent seamstress, making so many of her children's clothing when they were young. She enjoyed hobbies, and kept herself busy.attending to others' needs and wishes. Her love of furry creatures knew no bounds. I will miss her FB posts, and our conversations. My deepest sympathy to all of her children and their children. I know that you will miss her greatly.

Chris and family,
We were so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom, grandma and great-grandma. I will always hold fondly onto the memory of how especially sweet she was to Quinton. You could just see how much she adored him and him her when she would come over.

Chris, Tiphany, Ryan, Aaron, Austin, Audrey - I am so sorry for your loss. They say time heals all hurt, but there is nothing that will heal the hurt with the loss of a mother/grandmother/great grandmother. May you always remember the good times and know that she is with you always, guiding you. Thinking of you during this difficult time.
